All of the benefits of warm Golden Milk, but with a Spring makeover! Lots the Golden fruit, fresh ginger, turmeric, + bee pollen make this Golden Milk Smoothie one of my fav ways to start the day, or a solid afternoon pick-me-up

You guys, it’s the moment I’ve been waiting for far too long it seems. We’ve had a few above-60 degree days, and I have to say, I’m feelin’ it. Eating fresh, whole foods is a part of my lifestyle year-round, but there is something innate that just happens in Spring every year. I feel a real change, physically and emotionally, not to mention I suddenly get the urge to like really exercise. And it’s not just a half hearted downward-dog and plank here and there, or counting ‘chasing after my kids’ as cardio. Guys, I downloaded a workout app, and I’m doing it! Haha, I know…

SO along with that, and my natural bio-rhythms, smoothies have come back on the scene. When my bones begin to defrost, I really crave starting almost every morning with a smoothie, and it feels amazing. One of my favorite cozy winter drinks (Golden Milk Lattes) has gotten a big summer makeover, people. I’ve taken the best parts of warm Golden Milk (the turmeric, cinnamon, and ginger) and added more of my favorite golden fruit (plus a surprising veg!) + healing, vitamin-rich bee pollen! By the way, did you know that bee pollen is super helpful as a natural antihistamine? While Spring is glorious and the flowers are mesmerizing, your allergies may be raging, and bee pollen actually reduces the effects!

    Golden Milk Smoothie

Let’s talk about Turmeric for a sec. It is definitely known for it’s rich golden hue and has massive antioxidant health benefits. I like to add about a half of a teaspoon to this smoothie, and I think it’s just right, you get it, but you don’t get too much of it, because the flavor can be pretty strong. Then, I add a small grind of fresh black pepper (which helps your body absorb the benefits of turmeric), plus a bit of ground cinnamon.

If you’re just starting to put away your heavy winters clothes, welcome to the other side, my friends! We have persevered, and can now emerge into Spring with a glow, Golden Milk Smoothie in hand.

I love seeing what you all are making, so remember to tag me @leanne.shor or #lionsbread in your pics on Insta or FB! xx – L
