    ABOUT

    LeAnne Yaakubov

Hi! I’m LeAnne, and welcome to Lion’s Bread! This space is all about sharing my love of scratch baking and cooking, using real ingredients and whole foods. I don’t take many shortcuts in the kitchen, and I love “slower” food. I’m an American-Israeli, California-native, NYC- transplant living in the Pocono Mountains of PA. Ya, I’ve moved a lot! My food is inspired by the people I love and places I’ve traveled. Each recipe is its own world, and I’m so glad to be able to share them with you!

    MY STORY

In 2008, Lion’s Bread was my small baking business on Martha’s Vineyard, selling my family’s award winning Challah bread. My nickname on the Vineyard was “Lion,” so when I started making Challah, ‘Lion’s Bread’ was born.

Some of my earliest memories are of helping my Mom in the kitchen. Our house was very food-forward. I grew up very much understanding the importance of home-cooked food, because our table always had a hot meal, and homemade treats.

After college, and a brief stint in the corporate world, I realized that life behind a desk wasn’t a good fit. I wanted to bake, for real. With student loans to pay off from my 4-years in Boston, pastry school wasn’t an option. I started working at a great bakery in California, and within a couple of years was able to work my way all the way up, learning real skills from the guys who had been baking and decorating for decades. That was it, I was totally hooked on baking, and addicted to perfecting my recipes.

Fast forward to 2026, and I’m back on the East Coast, in the Pocono Mountains of PA. I’m a wife, and mom to 4, Noah, Ellie, Maya, and Ari. We left the hustle of the NYC urban jungle for a slower pace and room to breathe. We’ve turned our home into a micro-farm with free range chickens and a vegetable + fruit garden that I’m completely obsessed with. I love to entertain, and I love a full table.

I bake and cook daily, but when I’m not in the kitchen, I’m probably DIY’ing a project, gardening, or riding my horses.

One of the greatest and simplest pleasures in life is sharing a good meal. If you love my recipes, please share them with your family and friends.

highlight of my summer: making organic dye-free food for my favorite tiny friends ✨
Organic Hummingbird Syrup:
1 cup filtered water
1/4 cup organic sugar
Place both the water and sugar into a small pot, and heat gently over medium low heat just until the sugar dissolves. Do not boil the mixture.
Allow the syrup to cool completely then pour into your favorite feeder.
Sit back, relax, and wait for these tiny angels to come back again and again 🥹✨ #homestead #hummingbird #organic #countryside
