Preheat the oven to 375℉.
Spread the apple slices into an uncreased 10 inch cast iron skillet or baking pan. Set aside.
Mix the remaining ingredients with a fork (or spoon), and sprinkle over the apples.
Bake uncovered until the topping is deeply golden brown, and apples are tender, about 35-40 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla bean ice cream.
I made very minor changes to the original recipe (I added an extra apple and salt) and slightly increased the amount of flour in the topping.
